Today, was the day two of the whole process, day one of chemo, or day -5 before CAR T infusion, which is actually six days away because of the holiday. Confused? It was a pretty uneventful day, the chemo process from start to finish was 3 hours including taking vitals, saline hydration and 2, 30-minute bags of chemo. I was done by 11:30, and other than some fatigue which could easily have been more heat related than chemo related, nothing much to report.
But later in the day I did get some news. My oncologist called and I figured she was just checking in to see how chemo went on day one. She was, but she was calling to relay the results of my CT scans from Monday. To be honest, I sort of forgot about the scans, which is not my typical obsessive self. But we usually are doing scans to see how treatment is working or if the disease is progressing or to figure out a treatment plan. But since I’m already planning on having CAR T treatment, there was no real scanxiety with this one.
That said, my scans looked good with nothing significant, which bodes well going into CAR T treatment. Among other things, there is some correlation to low volume of disease and less side effects, and given that some of the side effects are a little scary, I like that correlation.
That’s it for tonight, other than to share the photo below. Noah said that if I had time, I should explore and my amazing nurse today was telling me about the Dutch House in Boston, which is conveniently just off the path from the hospital to the hotel, so I took a five-minute detour to explore. :)
I read the history of the house, and it’s fascinating.
Grateful you don’t have scanxiety!
Good update!! The Dutch House is cool! Have you read the book by Ann Patchett? Audio version narrated by Tom Hanks.
